Door Refinishing & Refurbishing by Door Renew
STEP #1: STRIP EXISTING DOOR
Temperature and humidity fluctuations, exposure to the elements and damaging UV from the sun, can destroy your door’s finish. In order to restore a door to its original beauty, the door must first be stripped down to naked wood or fiberglass. That’s where we come in.
STEP #2: SAND TO PERFECTION
With the old finish removed, the door is ready to receive the new finish. This is done through meticulous sanding to remove blemishes from the surface area. Damaged areas are repaired. The door is then cleaned thoroughly to remove all residue, oils and dust.
STEP #3: STAIN THE DOOR
Next, a new coat of stain is applied to the raw door to restore its vibrant natural look. We use only the highest quality stains such as Old Masters, Mohawk and General Finishes. Our craftsman will discuss stain options to help you create a look you’ll love.
STEP #4: MARINE GRADE FINISH
We seal all of our doors with at least 5 coats of a high-build, top quality, marine grade lacquer which contains UV filters. This is equal to roughly 10 coats of a traditional lacquer. Finally, we apply a high-quality finish coat. The result is a beautiful stain you can count on to withstand the constant beating of the elements.
